Let's Reduce California's Deficit in a Manner that Puts Families First! COR leaders gathered with other community leaders from across the Bay Area including BOCA of Berkeley, SFOP San Francisco, PIA Peninsula cities, CCISCO Contra Costa, and OCO of Oakland to unite efforts and plan to ensure California prioritizes families and our most vulnerable populations when considering budget cuts.

Pastor Smith reminds the attendees: “We have shared goals with a variety of methods” and so we must “continue the spirit of cooperation.” The resounding message from the attendees eager to collaborate with the school system to create access to quality education for African American students was “Enough Is Enough!

Eden−Cherryland Congregations Organizing for Renewal (COR) and many other community leaders who were both from secular and sacred communities, public and private sectors, and from various cultural backgrounds came together for COR’s “Cherryland and South Garden Youth Investment Round Table” to address the root causes of youth violence through the design of school-based health services—and ultimately a school-based health clinic at Hayward High—and to help address the growing concerns about the education, health, employment, and prosperity of our young people. COR was joined by the City of Hayward, Alameda County Healthcare Services Agency, and Public Health, and other County entities, and Tiburcio Vasquez.

On Thursday, April 28th, Rep. Luis Gutierrez (D-IL) joined over 1,200 OCO, CCISCO, BOCA and COR leaders to highlight immigrant testimonies and to call on President Obama to halt unnecessary deportations which tear families apart. The faith community in the East Bay came together for a common cause.
Leaders tour TriCED Community Recycling
Hundreds of community leaders from across seven states came together to learn effective violence reduction strategies and how to implement them effectively. The work of COR leaders shined bright, as they represented COR, the 1st PICO affiliate to fully implement this proven strategy in the nation.
