COR youth leader, Oscar, celebrates with COR mentor Susana. The power of good community organizing is incredible! In Union City, the youth organized a Candidates' forum at Our Lady of the Rosary Church on October 27th, in which all City Council Candidates were present, along with community members from across town.
Over 150 COR leaders from across South Alameda County to celebrate the victories in 2010 and two standout leaders. The Erma Andrade Leadership Award was given to Ray Noell from Messiah Lutheran for being a strong, steadfast leader. The New Emerging Leader award was given to Sylvia Meraz for her moral courage to speak truth to power and stand up for the people in her neighborhood.
COR is working to create job opportunities for hard to employ youth and young adults, especially in the growing green economy.
